Vamplets interview with G-Ra

The new toy line, called Vamplets, offers a fresh take on the rekindled obsession with creatures of the night, and consists of six limited-edition plush toys not for the faint of heart. Artist G-Ra, inspired by the works of Edward Gorey, spent a few years coming up with the concept of the lovable yet bloodthirsty tots.

We spoke with creator, G-Ra, about the toy line.

Horror News Network: What inspired the concept for your plush toys, Vamplets?

G-Ra: About 3 years ago I suddenly started drawing strange little babies drinking bottles of blood. I just loved them & I became obessed about drawing baby Vampyre's.

Horror News Network: Can you give us a run down of the current Vamplets that are available?

G-Ra:
Currently there are 6 cute & cuddly but rotten to the core babies.

Each with a different personality & all with individual warnings. They are Lily Rose Shadowlyn, Cadaverson Nightshade, Evilyn Nocturna, Count Vlad Von Gloom, Midnight Mori & Burton Creepson Jr.

Horror News Network: What kind of accessories can be purchased to go along with these plush figures?

G-Ra:
We have disappearing Bottles of Blood....of course a bottle of blood is necessary protection if you are foolish enough to bring a baby Vampyre into your home. I am also working on a line of clothing for these little demons which will be available next year along with a few more nasty little surprises.

Horror News Network: How often do you plan to come out with new Vamplets?

G-Ra:
Right now I have 6 new residents of Gloomvania "undying" to get out & we just need to determine which one will to clever enough to escape their cage or coffin & make it into the Vamplets line in 2011.

Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more about Vamplets?

G-Ra:
Visit the World of Gloomvania home of the Vamplets if you dare at: www.vamplets.com

We will post all notices of upcoming events, contests, projects & the latest products in our blog & you can find our Facebook & Myspace links on the website too.

We will also be adding a delightfully gruesome game or two on the website soon.

Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say about Vamplets?

G-Ra:
I would just like to send my condolences to those foolish enough to have acquired one or more of my deviously dark little darlings.

I hope they are all faring well in your care & more importantly that you the caregivers are still alive & breathing.

There is simply very little room for more undead in Gloomvania so keep your bottles of blood handy & watch your necks....you've been warned!
