Cute yet frightening are these zombie bears from Bad Taste Bears.
We caught up with Paul Kell to learn more about these collectibles.
Horror News Network: What inspired the Bad Taste Bears line "Dawn of the Ted"?
Bad Taste Bears / OddCo (Paul Kell): Bad Taste Bears has been a terrific line for manufacturers OddCo and artist Peter Underhill over the last 10 years now and although it is very successful in the UK and Europe, we have yet to make a really big impact in other parts of the world. Maybe the humour doesn't translate in other Countries?
So we were looking for a new mini range that could introduce a whole new generation of international fans to the bears and as ‘zombie fans’ ourselves, myself, artist Peter Underhill and the team, thought zombies could be an excellent new theme for an offshoot mini range of BTBears.
Horror News Network: Are you all big horror/zombie fans?
Bad Taste Bears: Absolutely. Personally, I was terrified of Zombies as a kid and slowly that has turned into a fascination. Got stacks of movies in the house (Zombieland being my current top title) and am up to date with all the Walking Dead comics. Robert Kirkman is the man.
Horror News Network: Is this the first time you have created horror bears?
Bad Taste Bears: Artist Peter Underhill has covered a huge amount of horror characters in the past, including Leather Face, Pinhead, Freddie and even a Zombie Michael Jackson. Dawn of the Ted is the first time Pete has ever designed a whole range around the horror theme.
Horror News Network: Who are the bears in this collection?
Bad Taste Bears: The first range consists of 6 characters, including 'Self Catering' and 'Life's a Drag.' We have also just launched Xmas Zombie 'Santa Gores' and are due to release a range of Zombie Killers in the new year.
Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more information on the "Dawn of the Ted" figures?
Bad Taste Bears: You can check out www.badtastebears.com for all the inf that you would need. Perhaps visit our blog or forum for the inside scoops.
Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say about the "Dawn of the Ted" figures?
Bad Taste Bears: Dawn of the Ted are a goresome new range of highly detailed, highly collectible figurines which we absolutely adore and hope all fans of blood and guts will enjoy them as much as we do.
